Setting up GPS Functionality
Using your Garmin GPS and your PC, EarthPlat will display the parcel
information related to your location. The following are instructions
for setting up the Franson GpsGate feature within EarthPlat. You must
first download and setup the Franson GpsGate software on your PC. This
piece is required if you want to display EarthPlat parcel information on
your Garmin GPS unit.
- Connect your GPS unit to your PC and turn on the GPS
- From your PC, Navigate to www.franson.com
- Click on GpsGate in the blue menu bar.
- Select Free 14 day Trial Download!
- Click on Request download link here! Under the Windows
download – GpsGate v2.6 section
- Enter your email address to receive your download instructions
- Download and install GpsGate
- After the installation is complete, a little square red and white icon
will appear in the bottom right corner – click on this icon once and a
menu will appear. If the icon does not appear, go to Start/Programs/GpsGate
2.6/Franson GpsGate 2.6 and the icon will appear.
- Select settings from the Franson menu
- This opens a window displaying three tabs: Input, Output and Advanced
- Select the Input tab. In the bottom right of the window select the
Setup Wizard action button
- When the Search Options box appears, leave the default check boxes
checked unless you are sure about changing the options
- Within the wizard, select your specific GPS unit from the dropdown list
- When completed, click on the Output tab
- From the dropdown list select: GpsGate.com (Send) then Click on Add
- Select Connect to GpsGate.com by turning on the radio button
- Click on More Options…
- Under Protocol, select HTTP from the dropdown list (Do this before
entering the server address)
Go back up to server and type in this address: http://earthplatextras.earthplat.com/gpsgate.aspx
- Click OK
- Click Next
- Enter your email login for EarthPlat into the Username
- Enter “drivecarefully” into the Password
- Click on Test – at this point your GPS and Computer should still be
connected and your GPS should acquire a signal (if not, try again
starting at the beginning of this section and make sure the URL entered
in the server section is correct)
- Log in to EarthPlat and make sure the GpsGate box is checked in
top/middle of the window
- Your PC can now track your location from your GPS

does not accept responsibility for the actual import of this software
into your PC, only that of the EarthPlat product. You should have a
working knowledge of your GPS product before performing this import.
